Baruch Spinoza

A Dutch rationalist philosopher of Portuguese-Jewish descent, Spinoza identified God with Nature, rejected dogma and free will, and argued in the Ethics and the Theologico-Political Treatise for tolerance, freedom of thought and democracy as the most rational regime.
