Harry S. Truman

President of the United States (1945–1953), Truman ordered the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, launched the Marshall Plan and the containment doctrine at the outset of the Cold War, racially integrated the armed forces, and led the United States into the Korean War.
