WHAT THIS FORM COVERS
8 interpersonal scales.
More than a label.
Every scale stays visible. We do not force an overall score, fixed type, or ranking of your character.

Seeking attention
How accurately attention-seeking, speaking loudly, and doing much of the talking describe you. These items do not establish leadership ability or confidence in every situation.
Published octant: Assured-Dominant
- 02
Sharp disagreement
How accurately contradiction, sharp words, or snapping at others describe you. The score does not diagnose a personality disorder or explain the reasons for those interactions.
Published octant: Arrogant-Calculating
- 03
Interpersonal detachment
How accurately limited interest in others’ problems, skepticism toward emotional appeals, and expecting others to fend for themselves describe you. The published set also includes an item about putting little thought into things; it is not a direct test of empathy or moral worth.
Published octant: Cold-Hearted

Reserved interaction
How accurately being private, quiet around strangers, and talking little describe you. Being reserved does not establish social anxiety, poor social skills, or dissatisfaction with relationships.
Published octant: Aloof-Introverted

Staying out of the spotlight
How accurately speaking softly, letting others finish, modest self-presentation, and avoiding attention describe you. These items do not show whether you lack confidence or can set boundaries.

Accommodating others
How accurately tolerance, accepting what comes, thinking of others first, and seldom stretching the truth describe you. This short self-report cannot verify honesty or determine whether a compromise is healthy.

- 07
Warm interaction
How accurately interest in people, reassurance, concern for others’ well-being, and getting along with others describe you. The score describes your answers rather than the quality of every relationship.

- 08
Sociable interaction
How accurately social comfort, starting conversations, talking to many people, and enjoying large parties describe you. This does not measure popularity or the depth of your relationships.

IPIP Interpersonal Circumplex · Markey & Markey (2009)
How to answer. On this page, there are phrases describing people's behaviors. Please use the rating scale below to describe how accurately each statement describes you. Describe yourself as you generally are now, not as you wish to be in the future. Describe yourself as you honestly see yourself, in relation to other people you know of the same gender as you are, and roughly your same age. Please read each statement carefully, and then choose the number that corresponds to your response using the scale below.
How it is scored. All items are positively keyed. Average the four responses for each published octant; the corresponding sum ranges from 4 to 20. All 32 statements are required for a complete profile.
What the evidence supports. Markey and Markey studied this specific inventory’s structure and links with interpersonal and personality measures. Source sample statistics are not representative Ownfacet norms, and do not independently validate this interface or its explanations.
How to interpret it. These are self-report scale scores without Ownfacet population norms, clinical interpretations, fixed types, or predictions of relationship success. It describes your general behavior; it does not assess a partner, relationship compatibility, attachment anxiety or avoidance, or the quality of a particular relationship.
Reflect on your own usual behavior. No partner ratings, personal names, or relationship disclosures are needed.
The traditional source names are retained alongside item-focused descriptions. A scale label does not describe your whole character or assign you to a fixed interpersonal type.
A relationship-specific attachment version would require a separate permitted instrument. This inventory is about general interpersonal behavior.
