ORIGINAL ICAR-16 / IMPLEMENTATION PREVIEW
Published questions.
A careful next step.
Try the original 16-question sample from the International Cognitive Ability Resource, developed by David Condon and William Revelle. This preview uses the published questions and original diagrams.
What you receive today
A raw count of correct responses, with unanswered questions shown separately. There is no IQ score yet. We have not verified a suitable IQ conversion for this form and Ownfacet’s delivery.
16 questions · no countdown · English · no account
BEFORE YOU START
A quiet space.
Room to consider.
Four kinds of reasoning
Verbal reasoning, letter series, matrices and three-dimensional rotation. Four questions per area; these small groups are not separate calibrated ability scores.
Work without assistance
Avoid searches, calculators, answer guides and other people’s help. Choose a response, then Continue. You can review your responses before finishing; correctness is withheld until then.
Keep this tab open
When available, temporary storage retains the preview in this tab through reloads and navigation. Browser restoration may retain it after closing the tab; clear the preview explicitly when finished. Download your private report to keep it. This preview is separate from My results and private backups.
The visual tasks require seeing the diagrams.
Matrix and rotation questions use the original graphics, with an enlargement control. Keyboard controls make the interface operable; they do not establish an equivalent nonvisual assessment. Instructions and verbal questions are in English.
SOURCE, SCORING & NEXT STEPS
A real instrument.
An interpretation to establish.
Exact source. The questions and graphic choices come from Appendix A of the 2014 ICAR development paper’s supplement. Its original item resource was released as public domain. The publisher’s article is a separate copyrighted work; this preview does not reproduce the article or import the current restricted archive.
Response choices. We retain the choices printed in that appendix, including the eight labelled choices in each rotation image. Some SAPA research administrations added response choices beyond those printed in the appendix. We do not assume that their administration conditions or score distributions automatically apply here.
Scoring. One point for each correct response, zero otherwise. An explicit “Leave unanswered” action records a question without choosing an original answer; it earns zero and is reported separately. No time score, standardized subscale, percentile or IQ conversion is calculated.
What the research supports. Published work supports ICAR as a measure of cognitive ability in studied samples. It does not automatically validate this interface or provide representative IQ norms for everyone using Ownfacet. In the 2020 comparison with WAIS-IV, the observed full-scale correlation was .62; .81 was corrected for range restriction and reliability. A correlation is not a score conversion.
What remains before IQ. Verify a score-linking or norm model for the exact form, intended audience and administration; establish its uncertainty and reportable range; then check the implementation against it. We will not convert the existing original beta’s counts into IQ or treat a volunteer research sample as representative population norms.
First exposure matters. This is a fixed published set. Seeing its items, answers or completing a retake can affect later performance. Do not use this preview for diagnosis, education placement, employment selection or membership qualification.
